Last evening at the EXDO Event Center in Denver, Broncos linebacker, Brandon Marshall, was honored at a 200 person affair to recognize those in the community who had stepped above and beyond.
The Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado choose Brandon as the recipient of the 2017 Leadership and Legacy Chairman’s Award. Dr. Ryan Ross, the President and CEO of the Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado chose Marshall for his:
- work on and off the field,
- moral compass,
- willingness to stand (or in some instances kneel) for Justice
- deeds that inspire service in the interest of community.
He was hailed as a shining example of servant leadership, resilience, commitment to his craft as well as the community.
Brandon’s mother, Barbara and his older brother, Marcus along with his wife and daughter were on hand. Other friends and extended family members also attended.
For Barbara, the highlight of the evening, beyond being proud of her son, was meeting former Mayor, Wellington Webb and the mothers of other honorees. To hear their stories and backgrounds was a touching moment and one she could relate to.
The Marshalls have had a winding road to the NFL, which you can about here, so it’s not a surprise Brandon would be chosen for such a prestigious accolade.
Brandon is the inaugural recipient of the new Leadership and Legacy Chairman’s Award. What a year he’s having on and off the field. He’s the Broncos leading tackler with 25, plus a sack. Congratulations, Brandon, way to represent your team and the Denver community.
