Today, July 31st, USAA and the Denver Broncos hosted 50 locally based military service members at UCHealth Training Center. Before practice began, they were given the opportunity to participate in a mini-workout. In the continued, Salute to Service campaign, the Broncos hosted this military appreciation event, comprising of members competing in drills similar to those used to evaluate NFL talent as part of “USAA’s NFL Boot Camp” .
Participants tried five drills similar to those used to evaluate NFL talent. Following a VIP viewing of the Broncos practice, the invited military members met Broncos players. This is the 4th year that USAA and the Broncos have hosted this event. Former SB Champion Steve Atwater was on hand to give tips and good natured ribbing. No pressure trying to perform in front of the Ring of Famer. After today, I’m thinking some may have a greater appreciation of what freaks of nature some of the players need to be to get drafted.
On the flip side, the players were glad to honor these men and women who dedicate their lives to keeping America safe. A mutual appreciation society, even though not all members were originally Broncos fans (shh), but they are now. Give a Mile High Salute to USAA and the Denver Broncos.
Afterward, they met Head Coach Vance Joseph, mascot Miles, Super Bowl Champion Ed McCaffrey and other coaches, too. This Boot Camp event represents the evolution of authentic military appreciation events that USAA and the Broncos have created to foster an understanding and appreciation for the local military community, bringing our military closer to the game they love.
