DeMarcus Mambo Mode Walker, “I’m just trying to win. You know what I’m saying?”

As predicted, DeMarcus Walker has been moved to outside linebacker, sort off. He’s more a DE just being kicked out wide. It will be interesting to see if they have him with a hand in the dirt or not. Joseph said they’re letting him play like a DE (which is hand down), but he’s done both. “It’s something I did in high school and in college, as well. I’m just trying to help. Whatever I can do to contribute to this team and win a Super Bowl and whatever a coach asks me to do, I do it.”

Sometimes I wonder about the questions being asked of these players when they ask if it’s tough to play multiple positions. Don’t they watch football? Very few NFL guys have only played one position from Mitety-Mites to the NFL, sheesh. And most have to play multiple spots, which is why teams draft them, because they can do multiple things. “Not tough because I’m used to it. It’s pretty good. I just have to learn a few more things. That’s about it.”

On whether there is a huge difference playing inside versus outside linebacker “The way that the vets have been teaching me—Von and Wolfe came up to me today—they’re actually telling me and teaching me within my skills of what I can do. How can I translate? I can use that inside and outside. I really have just been keeping my mouth shut and just taking in coaching.” That’s not tough for Walker since by nature he’s not a big talker, he’s more of a doer.

Having Von Miller mentor him,“It’s a blessing to be honest with you. He’s the best for a reason. Whenever he talks, I always ask him question on that stuff. He always gives me input. And the better thing today, D-Ware text me today, too.” Yup, DWare sees what DWalk has the potential to be. So exciting because a handful of us said that before he was drafted. And no, he wouldn’t divulge what was said.

For Mamba Mode, he’s most likely talking about maturing as a player, not as a person because that guy has an old soul and was a leader at FSU.
“No, not at all. You just have to mature. Just think about what’s in the moment. I’m picking up those type of skills from Von. I’m actually just having fun with it. That’s the best thing about it. Having fun and taking it one day at a time.”

Some players enter the NFL and have rarely lost. Their mindset is alway focused on winning because that’s what they know, how they’ve been conditioned. Which is y he’s so positive with the changes, “I’m just trying to win. You know what I’m saying? Whatever I can do to help win, that’s what I’m trying to do.”
