The Denver Broncos drafted Georgia wide receiver Isaiah Mckenzie, (@_CRADICULOUS) in the 5th round of the 2017 NFL Draft. McKenzie is a 5’7” , 173 pounds and was clocked at 4.42 40yrd at the combine. He was the Bulldogs leading receiver and hauled in 44 catches for 633 yards and 7 scores. He’s a special teams weapon as well owning the Georgia school records for career punt returns for a touchdown (5) and overall kick returns for a touchdown (6). He is a sociology major from Miami, Florida who was the lone Bulldog drafted in 2017.
Broncos GM and former Hall of Fame QB John Elway vies McKenzie as an electric returner who can contribute various ways on offense, most likely as a fifth wide receiver. Elway gave up the 2017 7th round pick, #238 and swapped 5th round picks with the Green Bay Packers to nab McKenzie. Elway spoke of how, “a guy that can do as many things as he can do with that speed, was very valuable” with a limited number of game day roster spots (46).
Traded up to take WR Isaiah McKenzie from Georgia in the 5th. An electric returner & a productive offensive player. Gives us a dual threat.

McKenzie commented that he felt he could make an “immediate impact” and that his size makes him “a little chippy”, which can easily remind one of future Hall of Famer, Steve Smith, who started his career as a return specialist and then grew into larger and larger rolls on the offensive side of the ball. He added that getting the call from Elway was “a dream come true” and that he will “compete, work for this team and show him (Elway) he didn’t make a bad pick”.
